Here is a product I find pretty fascinating. I, however, use the plug extender that comes with any Apple laptop because I don't think it's good for the cord to have the box hanging on by two prongs. I could see myself using this product with the box plugged into a power strip. Anyway, check it out!
A fellow nerd-like friend of mine just sent me this link and I genuinely enjoyed it. In my mind, it's a must share.
It's probably nerdy to get excited about things like an unblurring tool. It's nice that I'm not alone seeing how many other cheered during the presentation. Photoshop continues to move forward. Seemingly impossible things are becoming possible. Technologically continues to progress in different ways!
Not to mention an appearance by a well loved television character. Bears beets battlestar galactica. If the nerd aspect doesn't peak your interest. Maybe that did. A phrase that doesn't need to be explained for most of us. I cannot count the amount of times I've heard this saying and without fail it makes me cringe every single time. Seriously cringe.
On the lines of film making, it always frustrated me and still does. Do you know how long editing takes? Hours upon hours for a 30 second piece. Take this piece for example. 1 minute and 8 seconds. This took days. Hours of footage and interview segments watched and listened to over and over again. It's no small project. My point being this, if you can control something here and now while shooting, why not do it correctly. Instead most cut corners making more work for others later. Don't do it...in any part of your life. I just came across 10 Deadly Post Processing Sins and it honestly had me laughing out loud and thinking "Yes, that is indeed stupid. Why do people do it?" but I also know that's because my strong point is not post editing in photography. I have never enjoyed editing photos because you lose the essence of the photo. I want to take a beautiful breathtaking photo off the bat. I don't want to enhance a mediocre photo to something breathtaking. At that point it's not a photo, it's a misconception. A lie. False advertising. Unless of course you own up to that fact you've switched gears from a photograph to design. We'll fix it in post. My philosophy, don't rely on it. Do a quality time the first time every time and minimal corrections will need to be done when getting to post. The way it should be. I'm not saying I'm the most talented photographer in the world. I'm certainly not. It takes skill. It takes practice. It takes persistance. It takes a certain eye. By all means, buy a camera, use it and don't be afraid to try new filters, angles, settings etc. Moral of the story. Simply because you own a camera doesn't make you a photographer.
With technology now a days, this doesn't come as a shock. It's fascinating to see how technology has changed since even my childhood but even more so since the beginning of time. It's always changing and will quickly get away from us if we let it. 2 images leaving me with one word. Amen. Freelance work is often over looked. Customers want the glim and glamour of a good job but are rarely, if ever willing to pay for it. Just remember freelancers have bills to pay as well. If you wouldn't want your work underpaid, it's not realistic to expect they will either no matter how good it is for their résumé
I'm Bethany Sanderson and this is my blog. I'm unsure what I will be posting here but my hope is it will be interesting and thought provoking to photographers, videographers and designers like myself.
My goal for some time has been to update my portfolio. Like most of you hard working folks, you understand it is easier said than done. It's almost a joke when you say you need to "update your portfolio" because it's such a big job and one that shouldn't be taken lightly. It's definitely the last thing I want to do after working 8 hours in front of a computer but alas it MUST be done. The longer I put it off, the more daunting the task gets - so I've finally committed some time to updating it. Enjoy and check in periodically for new posts. |
